Today, I finished Chapter 13 and 14 in the Photoshop for Photographers Creative effects on lynda.com in photoshop and I learned about the new brushes, how to download them, set them as a new brush and then use them. I also learned how to change the color, direction, size, and anything else like that in the brush presets. And, in chapter 14 you had to download to use it so I just had to skip that lesson I will start something new on monday. See you tomorrow. Thank goodness it is friday tomorrow!!
Today, I finished Chapter 13 in Photoshop for Photographers Creative Effects in lynda.com in photoshop and this lesson is called Finding and installing custom brushes. I went to a site called design fruit.com and then I added them onto the brushes in photoshop and started using them to add new things to the pictures.
Lesson 2 of Chapter 13 is called Using and modifying custom brushes and I did that by going to the brushes and uploading the new brushes, then applying them to pictures, and you can see I have tried all sorts of brushes and then I changed the sizes and spacing in the brush presets.
The last lesson in Chapter 13 lesson 3 is called Experimenting with custom brushes and so I used the same brush as last time and then added other brushes on top of it. I added the oval brush to make the picture look different and then i learned how to position them, change the colors, change directions and all of the different presets.
Today, I first went the Career Center and then I finished Chapter 11 from yesterday, and Chapter 12 today. Chapter 12 is all about adding borders and making color adjustments, using different blending effects and making your own borders with different brush effects. I learned a really cool thing, you use the star brush and then you use it all around the border and use the feather and mask it in and it looks like a real border around any picture.
Chapter 12 lesson 1 is called Building a creative effect with blending and adjustments in Photoshop for Photographers Creative Effects and in this lesson I took this picture of the lights and the wood stain in the background and I merged it together and then I used the blend mode of overlay and used the color balance sliders to make the picture more vibrant.
This above is Chapter 12 lesson 2 called Combining clouds with a portrait for an imaginative effect, and that is what I ddi above. I took the first girl picture and then I took the clouds and copied them twice with a blend mode of soft light and then I rotated the other copied version and then I added them to the image and I used the color balance and curves to make this image look like the one in the middle.
This is Chapter 12 lesson 3 and it is called Blending images and graphics together to add visual interest and in this photo I stared by merging all of the layers except for the border around it and then I used the blend mode of soft light and then I added the border and inverted all of the layers to get them to be dark, last I used the color balance dialogue box to change the color of the photo and then I used a mask and with black I painted into the eyes and brought back the color of the eyes. That is Chapter 12. in Photoshop for Photographers in lynda.com on Photoshop.
Chapter 11 lesson 1 is called Adding a prebuilt edge in Photoshop for Photographers Creative effects and in this photo I took the rectangle marque tool and I made an rectangle around the edge and fill it with black and make sure that it fits around the images.
Hand painting a border or edge is Chapter 11 lesson 2 and in this lesson I added the picture in the bottom right and then i pulled up the border on the left and put the two borders together by using a new document and merging them together to make the picture on the top left to be the final lesson.
Adding borders using custom shapes is Chapter 11 lesson 3 and I used the white border that I used in the other lesson and I added it to this image using the move tool and then i used the brush tool with a mask and painted with the foreground color to get rid of the stuff outside the image and then I used the transform tool to make tlhe image fit into place.
Chapter 11 lesson 4 is called Working with a real film wrap and so I used the film wrap and then I took the marque tool and inverted it so that I could get just the image border and then I filled it with white and used the blend mode of soft light.
This is Chapter 11 lesson 5 of the Photoshop for Photographers Creative Effects in lynda.com and this lesson is called Adding external frames and borders. I did this image by using the brush presets and the stars brush gives the picture a different look and then you can use the feather amount and size of the brush to make this image have a different look. That is Chapter 11.
Today, I finished Chapter 10 in Photoshop for Photographers Creative Effects in lynda.com and in Photoshop and I mostly used a lot of the different adjustment layers, like black and white, hue saturation, and color balance. I also used a lot of soft light in this chapter. Creating vintage effects with sepia colors and different grain affects. That is Chapter 10 I will finish Chapter 11 tomorrow and I will see you then.
Lesson 1 Chapter 10 is called Adding grain and creating a sepia tone and I did this by converting this image to a black and white in the adjustments panel and then I used the color balance adjustment and the blending mode of soft light and that is lesson 1.
Chapter 10 lesson 2 is Burning and dodging a sepia-toned image and in this photo I basically did a lot of burning and dodging to get the image as I wanted it. I copied this image a couple of times and then I used different blend modes. I chased soft light and then i took the brush tool with a mask and masked in the color to get a sepia colored image.
Chapter 10 lesson 3 is Blending back some original color and adding a border. I added some of the original color adding the color balance and some hue saturation back into the photo and then I used the rectangle marque tool and inverted the selection and picked the color I wanted the border to be and filled in the selection and made a better picture.
The first two pictures are Chapter 10 lesson 4 and it is called Creating a sepia tone and blending in texture and so I first change these pictures to black and white and then I added another picture of some brown texture paper and I added it int o the scene and used the color balance and soft light to make it blend.
Chapter 10 lessons 5 is the picture on the right and then the first one on the bottom and that lesson is called Adding film grain and more texture, so I copied the image and added the grain in the filter pulldown menu and then I used the opacity and dialed it down with the soft light.
Chapter 10 lesson 6 Creating a distinct color and tone and this lesson is full of coping the image and changing the curves adjustments and the blending modes and then doing it over and over. This lesson is the two pictures on the left.
Chapter 10 lesson 7 is the last lesson in this Chapter and it is called Burning and dodging a vintage photo and this lesson is the picture on the right and on the bottom and it is made by changing the adjustments of hue saturation, color balance, black and white, and curves. The blend mode of soft light is used twice in this lesson and you mostly add the adjustment and then copy it and add a curves and then copy it and add another adjustment and then group them together. That is Chapter 10.
Today, I finished Chapters 7,8, and 9 of lynda.com Photoshop for Photographers Creative effects and in these lessons I learned about the HDR toning, the Film grain and the noise and grain filters, converting to smart objects, and using the different adjustments like the Channel Mixer and color balance, black and white, and the Hue saturation. I will start on Chapter 10 tomorrow. See you then
Today, I finished Chapter 8 and 9 so above this is Chapter 8 lesson 1 called Building a dynamic digital in fared effect and in this photo I added a lot of different things but mostly I added in the channel mixer in the adjustment panel and then I added in fared and added the different blending layers like soft light and overlay.
This above is Chapter 8 lesson 2 of Photoshop for Photographers Creative effects and this lesson is called Combining in fared and HDR toning and in this lesson I have added the HDR toning just like I did in Chapter 7 and then I added the in fared and it changed the color of the picture to black and white to make the in fared more vivvid.
Chapter 8 lesson 3 and this is the last lesson in Chapter 8 and it is called Creating in fared with contrast and sharpness and so I took this picture and used the in fared and then I masked the adjustment and masked with black and then I masked in the eyes and really made them really clear and vivid.
The pictures above are Chapter 9 lesson 1 and it is called Using the Film Grain and Noise flares in Photoshop for Photographers Creative Effects and in this picture I applied the Noise in the filter menu and then I added the grain and dialed in how much the picture needed and then i adde a blending mode of soft light.
Lesson 2 of Chapter 9 is the girl and it is called Creating a more realistic grain affect and so I applied the grain affect in the filter pulldown menu and then I added the color balance and grain effect again on top and it made this picture look clearer.
The man on the right and above is called Chapter 9 lesson 3 and it is called Adding grain to a Smart Object and to do that you can add a smart object and then add the grain and add a lot of it and then add a blend mode of Soft light on top of it and the grain won’t be too much because the soft light controls how much you see of it. That is Chapter 8 and 9 of lynda.com Photoshop for Photographers Creative effects in Photoshop. I will start on lesson 10 tomorrow see you then.
